A Lesson before Dying by Ernest Gaines
The reason I choose this book is because it is an act of justice. It came around the Civil Rights movement. All wasn't equal , including the judicial area. Jefferson, the African American accuse of killing a white man, was sentenced to death. however, his defense attorney continuously bashed him and said he was incapable of even doing the crime because he had lacked intelligence. The summary I started to read grabbed my attention quickly. I am eager to begin reading to see if Jefferson ever gets justice and whether or not he was able to change the mind set of the white men during those hard times.
